Sports Development
Face set out to prove that inclusion of young people with and without disabilities together in sport was possible in a four year Sports Development Project funded by the Sport Council Lottery Fund from 2004-2008:
- Face held 60 Parball fixtures involving over 700 young people with and without disabilities in more than 15 locations;
- organised 5 Parball leagues, with over 200 young people with and without disabilities in 4 venues;
- held 3 darts tournaments together with 3 youth clubs and 27 young people with and without disabilities;
- played Wheelchair Hurling in 2 schools with 40 pupils with and without disabilities;
- introduced Boccia to more than 120 young people with and without disabilities in 6 locations in Northern Ireland;
- played New Age Kurling on 5 occasions with 70 young people with and without disabilities;
- offered water sports for young people with and without disabilities on 5 occasions;
- played 6 inclusive soccer games with 45 participants with and without disabilities;
- And went fishing once with 6 young people with and without disabilities and caught 4 rainbow trout in two hours.
Add to this the numerous taster sessions Face held throughout Northern Ireland in the different sports and the coaching training and one cannot but agree that Face had a tightly packed, busy four years!
